Triax Neighbourhood Management Team

About us

History of the NMT

From a coalition of 30 community and voluntary groups to the leading community development organisation in the Triax area.

  1. 1996

BBI was established with a focus on the environment and regeneration of the Triax area.

  2. 2010

With community infrastructure transformed, BBI amalgamated with Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership (CNP) and adopted a more resident-focused, service delivery approach across the whole Triax area.

  3. 2016

As BBI grew and added a number of social economy projects, the Triax Social Economy Project was formed as a subsidiary of BBI.

  4. Present

Given the growth and scope of the organisation, and to encompass all of its elements, we rebranded as the Neighbourhood Management Team (NMT).

Our story

Rooted in the community

The Bogside & Brandywell Initiative was established in 1996 as a community-based coalition of 30 community and voluntary organisations from the Bogside, Brandywell, Bishop Street and Fountain areas. Its aim was to address poor community infrastructure and facilities, and to use community development practice to tackle the area’s high levels of deprivation.

As residents emerged from decades of conflict, we helped deliver new facilities and refurbish existing ones. As infrastructure improved, our focus shifted to residents themselves – and our environmental work grew, from rapid removal of graffiti and illegal dumping to helping residents maintain their gardens. That work led directly to the Tús Maith project.

Today the NMT encompasses environmental, peace-building, cross-border, food support and social economy projects – all working to recognise and address the challenges faced by the communities we support.
