Tús Maith – meet the team

Tús Maith (“Fresh Start” as Gaeilge) is an integral part of the NMT, engaging directly with hundreds of residents each year and delivering home assistance, communal assistance, environmental awareness and educational projects throughout the Triax area.

Established in 2013 with the support of what is now the Department for Communities, Tús Maith gives local people valuable work experience and on-the-job training. The team is Jim, Gerry, Gary, John & Phil, led by Seanin & Donna.

Connections – A Peace Barrier Project

Peace Barriers Project

Chris & Peter

The Peace Barriers Programme was launched in 2012 in six interface areas in the North of Ireland, funded by the International Fund for Ireland. Our programme focuses on the Bishop Street–Fountain interface.

It delivers confidence and relationship-building work, social-economic improvement and capacity-building within and between interface communities – helping residents reach a position where they feel it is safe and appropriate to alter, declassify or remove peace walls and other conflict architecture in their area.

Timeline from 2012 to now: gates at the interface on Derry's Walls open for the first time in 40 years

More & Less Refill Project

Based at Pilots Row in partnership with Hive Cancer Support, More & Less aims to do “more” for the environment using “less” plastic.

Bring your own containers to refill dried foods and household items. Buy only what you need – cutting cost, waste and single-use plastic, while raising awareness of the impact of harmful chemicals on our health and environment.
